Crossing of the Bridge
In this life, we all cross bridges now and then and some time we are in a queue to cross it.
Sometimes no queue and we go faster.
After death, we have to go through a few stages and one of them is to cross the bridge over the hellfire.
In Islamic context, a lot of descriptions are there about the Bridge.
But let us see, what scholars’ comment about V12 of Surah Alhadeed,
57:12 يَوْمَ تَرَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ يَسْعَىٰ نُورُهُم بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَبِأَيْمَـٰنِهِم بُشْرَىٰكُمُ ٱلْيَوْمَ جَنَّـٰتٌ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
On that Day you will see believing men and women with their light shining ahead of them and on their right.
They will be told, “Today you have good news of Gardens, under which rivers flow, ˹for you˺ to stay in forever. This is ˹truly˺ the ultimate triumph.”
The Scholars comment that the light in front of the believers and on their right hand will be deed book.
In this situation, the believers themselves will be on the bridge and underneath will be the hellfire.
Some believers will cross it at lightning speed, and some will go at different speed, and
some will try to cross but will be unable and will fall over.
Let us remind ourselves, when we cross any bridge that we all have to cross the ultimate bridge and have to prepare for it. May Allah swt protect us from hellfire and make us enter the peaceful abode of Jannah. Ameen
