Participants
To be eligible, participants must:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

Camp Supervisor
Number of positions: 1

Task and responsibilities
The South Nepean Muslim Community (SNMC) Center is planning to organize a six-week long summer online camp for youth between 9 and 17 years old. As a leader and supervisor both to camp counselors and campers ages 9-17, the Camp Supervisor’s primary responsibility is overall planning, supervision, and implementing the educational and recreational online programming. The supervisor will ensure the smooth operation of the online activities and make the participants experience as fun and rewarding as possible. The supervisor will also be responsible for the development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in the group.
Requirements:
- Experience planning and implementing programs for a camp and youth aged 9 – 17
- Ability to work remotely online.
- Have his/her own computer equipment to use remotely.
- Ability to moderate online sessions
Preferred skills and experience:
- Experience and demonstrated ability to train, supervise
- Programming skills in online activities and creative play
- Previous experience working in a leadership role
- Ability to follow verbal and/or written directions/procedures
- Demonstrates supervisory and strong leadership skills
- Conflict resolution and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage simultaneous demands
- Ability to promote teamwork and to work independently when appropriate
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to teach reading of Arabic

The camp counselors will be tasked with organizing and delivering a six-week-long summer online camp for the children. The counselors will be responsible for leading a recreational and an educational part of the camp. The recreational aspect will include an introduction to various online competitions and activities over the course of six weeks while the educational part will focus on enhancing youth’s understanding related to heritage and culture of their own countries.
Requirements:
- Enjoy working with children aged to 9 – 17
- Enthusiastic positive attitude
- Ability to work remotely online.
- Have his/her own computer equipment to use remotely.
- Ability to moderate online sessions
Preferred skills and experience:
- Ability to teach reading of Arabic
- Organizational skills
- Programming skills in online activities.
- Experience working with children and youth
- Ability to follow verbal and/or written directions/procedures
- Demonstrates supervisory and strong leadership skills
