Opportunity to donate for SNMC Maintenance

Dear SNMC patrons,

As-salamu Alaikum

Opportunity to donate for SNMC maintenance

All of us together gave our time and money to build this $8M masjid and centre complex.

We have the opportunity to donate for masjid maintenance and prepare for any failure of heating and cooling in extreme weather conditions.

Please donate online at www.SNMC.ca by PayPal, MC or visa $1,000, or $500 or $250 or $100. It is our masjid, our legacy. You can pay online, by credit card or by pledge form at www.snmc.ca

Let us remember charity does not decrease wealth. Also, Allah (swt) will return 10 times every dollar we donate in this life and many folds in the life hereafter. May Allah (swt) accept our effort, time, and money. We will be successful if Allah (swt) accepts our efforts.

Let us seek His forgiveness and pray for His acceptance of our efforts.

SNMC Heritage: Muslim Scholars: Abū ‘Īsá Muḥammad ibn ‛Īsá at-Tirmidhī

Abū ‘Īsá Muḥammad ibn ‛Īsá  at-Tirmidhī (as Imām at-Termezī/Tirmidhī, was a Persian Islamic scholar and collector of hadith who wrote  Jami` at-Tirmidhi), one of the compilations in Sunni Islam. He also wrote Shama’il Muhammadiyah, a compilation of hadiths concerning the person and character of the prophet, Muhammad. At-Tirmidhi was also well versed in Arabic grammar,  He was born in Tirmidh in southern Uzbekistan.

It is related by Abdullah bin Masud that Muhammad said, “A faithful believer neither attacks with his tongue nor utters a curse nor speaks ill of anyone nor calls names.” From Tirmidhi

He was very close to Imam Bokhari. At-Tirmidhi was a pupil of al-Bukhari, who was based in Khurasan. Adh-Dhahabi wrote, “His knowledge of hadith came from al-Bukhari.”[16] At-Tirmidhi mentioned al-Bukhari’s name 114 times in his Jami`. He used al-Bukhari’s Kitab at-Tarikh as a source when mentioning discrepancies in the text of a hadith or its transmitters, and praised al-Bukhari as being the most knowledgeable person in Iraq or Khurasan in the science of discrepancies of hadith.

Imam Zijad’s Corner: Types of Communication-An Islamic Perspective

Imam Zijad’s Corner: Types of Communication-An Islamic Perspective

Basically, there are two types of communication: 1) verbal communication and 2) non-verbal communication.

1) Verbal communication:

In this type of communication, we present our thoughts, emotions, wills and wishes through conversation and speaking. The Qur’an mentions this type of communication in the following verses:

a. “And my brother Haroon is more eloquent than me in speech; so, send him with me as a helper to bear me out. I am afraid they will give a lie to me.” (28:34)

b. “We did not send any messenger but (speaking) in the language of his people, so that he might clearly convey the message to them.” (14:4)

This is the easiest and simplest mode of communication. If we fail to represent our thoughts effectively, it will result in miscomprehension and the listener will ignore the importance of our conversation. Sometimes due to this miscomprehension or defective communication conflicts arise between individuals/parties.

2) Non-verbal communication:

In our daily life, we frequently present our emotions, feelings and thoughts without speaking, through gestures and various body organs e.g. movements of head, hands, arms, eyes, eye’s brow etc.

This type of communication is also found in the life of the Prophet (pbuh) as his companions used to know he was annoyed, his unwillingness and disapproval from his cheeks, eyes, and color of the face. Similarly, the third type of Hadith which is known as “Hadith Taqreeri” is justified from the quietness and positive gestures of the Prophet (pbuh).

In our daily routine life, we answer many questions through movements of head or face. Similarly, we use our hands for giving various signals. Undoubtedly, the combination of both verbal and non-verbal communication makes an impact – positive or negative – on our relationships and the directions in life.

Weekly Verse

Almighty God reminds us in the Qur’an:

الرَّحْمَـٰنُ

عَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ

خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ

عَلَّمَهُ الْبَيَانَ

God Almighty said: ““Allah, Most Gracious! It is He who taught the Qur’an; He has created human being; He has taught him/her speech (and has given him/her intelligence).” (Ar Rahman 55:1-4)
