Lecture: The ten Qera’at and the 7 ahruf

SNMC Youth and Sisters Committees are pleased to organize a talk about the 10 Qera’at of the Quran and the 7 ahruf. 

What are the 10 Qera’at and what is the difference between the 10 Qera’at and the 7 ahruf? 

Are there different versions of the Quran?  If there isn’t, then why do we have the 10 Qera’at and the 7 ahruf?   

These questions and other points will be discussed in-sha’Allah.

Hiring – Online Quran Teachers

Job Description:  

 Position: Online Quran Teachers for grade JK, SK, and 1-8 for SNMC Alhuda School 

Qualifications: 

  • Able to read the Quran with proper Tajweed.  
  • Fluent in English speaking, reading writing.  
  • Capable of conducting classes online using Zoom.  
  • Capable of using different online tools like sharing other website, videos, cards, ..etc to teach Quran.  
  • Capable of communicating with fellow teachers, parents and management team through emails.  
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about teaching Quran. 
  • Able to simplify ideas and make it easy when communicating with students 
  • Reliable and committed to the agreed upon work schedule, 12:25pm to 2:30pm on Saturdays. 
  • Cooperative and open to constructive feedback. 
  • Previous online teaching experience is an asset.  
  • Previous employer reference if applicable 

  Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and complete lessons according to class schedule 
  • Evaluate students’ class work 
  • Provide students and parents with academic feedback on students’ development, including progress reports as required

AlHuda Online Saturday School Registration

South Nepean Muslim Community’s Al-Bushra online Day Camp offers an affordable educational summer program to families across Ottawa. We focus on providing an opportunity for children, ages 9 to 17, to flourish in a healthy and enjoyable environment, while learning about deen and the Qur’an.

Allah SW says in the holy Quran

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred less one; whoever learns them will enter Paradise.” (Reported by al-Bukhari, al-Fath, no. 2736)

The competition is open for Boys aged 7+. Boys will be judged based on:

1. Accuracy of Letter Pronunciation (Makharij)

2. Excellence of Voice

3. Knowledge of Azan Benefits and Rulings


Note: If you would like to practice the Azan with the Imam before the competition, please let us know in the registration form. The imam and all of us are ready to help you if you need any!
