Date and Time: Saturday July 14th at 9pm after Maghrib in the SNMC main prayer hall
The Mini Muslims drop-in playgroup is held at SNMC throughout the year.
Currently, our sessions take place every other Tuesday between 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. at SNMC. The playgroup is for moms (and/or a female guardian) and kids aged 0-6 years. Parent/guardian must be present at all times. The sessions are free to attend. Donations are welcome to sponsor arts and craft activities.
We have lots of free play and arts and craft activities, followed by circle time with stories and children’s nursery rhymes.
Parents/Guardians are responsible for their children for the duration of the playgroup.
Parents/Guardians can bring along snacks for their kids or share but must ask other parents before sharing anything.
Parents are requested not to bring their children if they are ill in order to prevent the spread of illnesses.
The summer sessions are scheduled for Tuesday July 17, 31 and Aug 14, 28 2018.

SNMC Kids Quran Summer Halaqa
SNMC Kids Quran Summer Halaqa (Bushra) is pleased to offer an educational Kids summer camp in the coming weeks.
4 programs are offered, 2 weeks (8 sessions) each. Morning programs include the use of Gym.
You may choose the following programs (you can register for program 1 and/or 2):
- July 23 – Aug 2, 2018 Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs
a.10am to 1:30pm OR b. 6:30pm to 8:45pm.
- Aug 6 – Aug 16, 2018 Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs
a. 10am to 1:30pm OR b. 6:30pm to 8:45pm.
Gender: It is open to boys and girls.
Age: 7-13. (If you have a son or daughter older than 13 years and he or she would like to be in the program, please let us know and if we find a way to open more classes, we will let you know)
Suggested fee: $30 per student.
Location: SNMC centre.
Program content:
* Learn how to read the Quran in Arabic for those who do not know how to read.
* Improving the reading/Tajweed/memorization for those who know how to read.
* Imaneeat (belief) and ebadat (worship) studies.

SNMC Arts and Crafts Program
SNMC’s art program for children is returning on July 14. Children between the ages of six and 12 are invited to join us every Saturday this summer to build their art skills and indulge in their creativity. We will focus on an art project each week using different mediums. Kids will have the opportunity to take their crafts home and share their artwork with friends and family!
Location: SNMC Masjid, Basement Room D
Time: 5:30—7:00 pm

SNMC 6th ANNUAL WALK-A-THON & BIKE-A-THON on Saturday July 21, 2018: 11am-2:00 pm
WALK-A-THON & BIKE-A-THON
SNMC Walk-a-thon/Bike-a-thon is an opportunity to socialize, stay fit and take a neighbourhood walk or ride a bike with children/grandchildren or friends and enjoy the pride of the community – New SNMC Centre/Masjid.
It is also an opportunity to get sponsorship for SNMC Masjid/Centre from friends and family members for walking and biking. Part of the sponsorship fee will be shared with a local charity.
Therefore, each individual walking or biking is expected to raise some funds for SNMC Masjid and Centre.
How? It’s easy! Ask your family members or friends (even your work colleagues) to sponsor your walking/biking – each kilometer, for example, $2, $5, $10 or more $$$$…
- Register all sponsorships that you receive using the registration/sponsorship form click here (attach link)
- Come on the day of the event with all the pledges and give it to the SNMC administration.
- Sign the waiver form at the SNMC table before the start of the event.
- Take part in one of the routes – a short one or a long one.
- Enjoy your success at the SNMC Centre/Masjid with all brothers and sisters who found some time to take care of themselves, collect some sponsorship to benefit both SNMC and a charity in Ottawa, and share our presence with the neighbours.
Lastly, let as many people as possible know about the event and invite them to participate!

The event starts and ends at the SNMC Parking Lot, @ 3020 Woodroffe Ave, Barrhaven K2J 4G3 – SNMC Center & Masjid
ROUTE 1) Family Walk-a-Thon & Bike-a-Thon (kids welcome): 4.5KM (shorter route)
From SNMC site 3020 Woodroffe to Longfields
Turn left on Longfields — walk/bike until Berrigan Dr
Turn left on Berrigan Dr until Beatrice Dr
Turn left on Beatrice Dr until Claridge Dr
Turn Right on Claridge Dr until Gentian Street and that will take us back to the SNMC site
REFRESHMENT STATIONS: On the way, there will be two stations with water/ refreshments/guides: corner of Longfields and Berrigan…and of course at the SNMC Center/Masjid.
ROUTE 2) BIKE-A-THON: Biking only: 9KM (Runners welcome)
Start at SNMC site – parking lot – 3020 Woodroffe and continue to Longfields
Turn Right at Longfields until Woodroffe
Turn Left on Woodroffe until the first entrance of Sportsplex (just before we come to Huntclub)
TURN and then go back to the SNMC site using the same route.
REFRESHMENT STATIONS: On the way, there will be two stations with water/guides at Sprotsplex just before Huntclub…and of course at the SNMC Center/Masjid.
The proceeds generated from this event will be directly benefiting the SNMC project – The Center and Masjid and one local charity.

Tax receipts will be issued for every pledge over $20.

Shaykh Ahsan Hanif, Ph.D.
Born and bred in Birmingham, the UK, he is well known in his community as the young Qari who memorized the Qur’an at the tender age of 13 and delivered regular circles of knowledge in Birmingham.
In 2000, he gained a scholarship to enter the Islamic University of Madinah. After completing his Arabic diploma, he graduated from the Faculty of Shari’ah in 2006 with honours. He obtained ijazah in the Qur’an, and studied under a number of well-known scholars, such as Sh. Abdul Muhsin al-Abbad and Sh. Muhammad ibn Muhammad Mukhtar al-Shinqiti. Shaykh Ahsan also completed his Ph.D. in Islamic Law from the University of Birmingham.
